Double Drop Trailer
The double drop trailer is used mainly for oversized freight. The lower deck height lets you load products that are taller then 10′. It has a longer piece in the middle that we like to call the “well”. The “well” usually ranges from 25-29′.
There are two types of double drop trailers
Fixed Neck: the neck is permanently attached to the well of the trailer
Removable Gooseneck (RGN): the neck can be removed
Both of these usually they have 2 or more axles, and a “flip axle”, which flips up to lay on the deck or flips down to create an extra axle for balancing weight.
Some examples of freight these trailers usually haul are construction equipment, cars, trucks, tanks, and forklifts.
Because of the relatively short length of the freight well, there are also extendable double drop trailers for tall and long freight.
